Nike’s experimental creative offshoot, NikeLab, teams up with Japanese label sacai on a new iteration of the famed Air Max 90 silhouette. Keeping in line with both entities’ active aesthetic, the NikeLab x sacai Air Max 90 has been reworked into a unique slip-on style, honoring the theme of expression and freedom of movement seen throughout the accompanying collection.
The sneaker comes constructed entirely of leather, with an elasticized tongue that makes use of the Swoosh’s Fuse technology. sacai founder Chitose Abe lends her tailoring skills to the new silhouette, adding in details like the tromp l’oeil midsole, which creates the illusion of a wedge. Like the other colors featured throughout the collaboration, the Air Max 90 is available in shades of obsidian/black with volt lining, volt/obsidian with volt lining, and wolf gray with volt lining.
The NikeLab x sacai Air Max 90 will be available on March 19 at NikeLab locations in New York, London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and on nike.com/NikeLab in North America, Western Europe, Japan and China. Select stores around the world, like Dover Street Market and colette, will carry the sneakers as well. Those of us in Japan can look forward to the goods on March 25.
